The bench commemorates the Silver Jubilee (25 years reign) of Elizabeth II.
It is located opposite the Church of St Edward the Confessor, in a small walled area that was once the village pound. A plaque in the stonewall, dated 1952 E II R 1977, tells us that this was part of the village green during the Middle Ages and was used for the impounding of stray animals.

The wooden bench has a slatted seat, with a vertical slatted back and arm rests.

A plaque on the back of the bench is inscribed as follows;
'PRESENTED BY
CHEDDLETON PARISH COUNCIL
SILVER JUBILEE 1977'
Anniversary Year: 1977

Year of Event, Organization or Occurance: 1952

Address:
Hollow Lane,
