Le buste de l'amiral Miguel Grau (1834-1879) honore le plus célèbre officier de la marine péruvienne, tombé lors de l'engagement naval d'Angamos, un épisode important de la guerre du Pacifique. Figure iconique de l'histoire péruvienne et surnommé le Chevalier des mers, Grau est l'un des marins les plus connus d'Amérique. Il a également fait carrière en politique, puisqu'il fut élu en 1876 dans la province de Paita, sous la bannière du Parti civil. En 2000, l'amiral Grau a d'ailleurs été désigné le Péruvien du millénaire lors d'un scrutin populaire.

The bust of Admiral Miguel Grau (1834-1879) honors the most famous officer of the Peruvian navy, fallen during the naval engagement of Angamos, an important episode of the Pacific War. An iconic figure in Peruvian history and nicknamed the Sea Knight, Grau is one of America's best-known sailors. He also had a career in politics, since he was elected in 1876 in the province of Paita, under the banner of the Civil Party. In 2000, Admiral Grau was also designated the Peruvian Millennium in a popular ballot.
