EN: This stone fountain located on the Lindenplatz in the center of Bettingen.

The fountain has a rectangular basin that is adjoined by a slightly smaller, octagonal one. On the cuboid fountain column is a statue of St. Wendelin. The side of the fountain column bears the inscription: "In memory of the union with Basel."

The village Bettingen was bought in 1513 by the city of Basel and thus became part of Switzerland. The negotiations on the details with the previous owners, the Truchsessen von Wolhusen, however, dragged on until 1522.

The 400th anniversary of the union was in 1913. The statue, created by sculptor Walter Suter was finished in 1921.
