The Wind Rose (Rosa dos Ventos in Portuguese)has 50 meters of diameter and it was an offer from South Africa in 1960. The central map has galleons and mermaids and shows the sea routes of the Portuguese Discoverers of the XV and XVI centuries.
To get the best view you must go to the top of the Discoverers Monument.
In 1960 it was given to Portugal to celebrate the 5th centennary of the death od Henry the Navigator.
