Bielefeld sculptor Waderbeck carved this eagle around 1918. It was put on top of a stone which became the first Oeynhausen Hindernburg memorial. Not quite ten years later the eagle was removed and the stone was decorated in a different way. The eagle was lost.
Long time after that during the digging for a building it was found again - lying face down with broken beak and buried. It is now displayed here and there is an information board with more details to this story.
