Located on the west wall of the building at 1192 E. Main, this mural is painted on a brick wall. Three previous arched window openings which have been filled in were used by the artist to showcase various portions of the mural.
The flat brick wall space is a scene from the early days of Wilson, a town named by John Ringling of the circus fame. He named the town after Charles Wilson, his circus manager. The Ringling Brother Circus had their winter headquarters west of Wilson.
The three arched portions of the wall show a vintage automobile from the 1920s, a group of young children, and a painting of two men: John Ringling and Jake Hamon. John Ringling (1866-1936) and his brothers started the famous Ringling Brothers circuses, and John was influential in starting a railroad through this area, in order to transport his circus animals, as well as oilfield equipment. Jake Hamon (1873-1920) was a rather unscrupulous politician and land owner, who partnered with Ringling in the railroad, and who died of an accidental gunshot wound.
The mural is not dated or signed.
