Just to the east of the Wilson Historical Museum on E. Main Street, there is a small metal storage building. On the end, facing the road, this head of an eagle, an oil derrick spouting oil, and a locomotive is painted, above the word City of Wilson.

All along Main Street, you will see murals, memorials and other indications of the fierce town pride. Founded in 1913, this is a rural agricultural town, which had a part in the oil boom of the 1920s and 1930s. The railroad brought life to the town, and of course, the eagle represents the patriotism of the local residents.
