Rankins on the Mall Newsagency opened for business on September 15, 1982 to coincide with the opening of the Queen St Mall (between Edward and Albert streets) and the beginning of the 1982 Commonwealth Games.

In 1999, when the entire Queen Street mall was refurbished to its current appearance the business moved to its present position outside hungry jacks. The original owner has been successfully operating the business.

Rankins on the Mall specialise in all forms of transport tickets , International and local phone cards, Starter Kits for mobiles phones, Phone credit for mobile phones and other newsagency products; Lottery Tickets, Instant Scratch Its, etc.

Their trading hours are 7 days a week and are open Sunday to Thursday; 6am until midnight and Friday and Saturday; 6am until 2am.
