Havre de Grace was caught in the War of 1812 when the British raided the town. One American lost his life, while one British soldier was wounded. The above coordinates are for the state historical marker, near the Concord Lighthouse.

Here on the morning of May 3, 1813, British Forces under Admiral Cockburn landed, sacked, and burned the town. The principal defense were two small batteries on Concord point. The "Potato Battery" on high ground, was manned to the last by John O'Neill.
