Located south of High Point close to I-85, Spookywoods has been going strong for 22 years, building up all the time.
The Kersey Valley group of attractions includes Maize Adventure, a corn maze; Gem Dig, panning for gems; Spookywoods, the haunted attraction; and a few other family-oriented things to do.
The 2009 scene lineup is as follows:
House - 3 rooms, changes yearly
Tram ride - 5 mins, various scenes, scares in the dark
Dark walk - They give you a flashlight and you walk through creature-infested woods. Your flashlight goes out at certain times.
Corn field - People walk through a set path with scares
Spookywoods proper - The actual haunted attraction, including a castle facade, chained psycho, "underground" castle area, dark dungeon, Crystal Lake cabin (you go inside it), Voodoo Bayou, mental hospital, graveyard, caves, gothic vampire cathedral, Silent Hill nurses, mine, vortex, Egyptian mummies, and more. Scenes are changed in and out every year.
The attraction is hand-built and they draw out all scenes before creating them. Actors collaborate and a costume is set aside and custom tailored just for them. Actor turnover from year to year is very low and there is a waiting list of replacements and fill-ins.
Logging:
To log this waymark, post a picture of you in front of anything that is distinctly part of this attraction. You could also post pictures around the attraction as well. Since I photograph it, I'll know.
