FR On la connait ce lieu sous les noms de Chapelle de la Visitation, Chapelle des Ursulines ou Chapelle Sainte-Catherine de Sienne.

Cette chapelle se situe dans la partie Nord de l’ensemble du monastère construit entre 1647 et 1652 sur les plans de Pierre Pavillon.

La perspective choisie par l’architecte, au bout de l’étroite rue Constantin, participe à la mise en scène spectaculaire de cette chapelle. Sa composition à trois registres superposés se dresse au-dessus d’un perron élevé de treize marches, renforçant l’élan vertical et l’effet de monumentalité. C’est un bel exemple du style baroque. La façade a subi des modifications : le grand médaillon abritant la Vierge, contenait à l’origine un bas-relief de la Visitation ; le dernier étage possédait une grande balustrade, aujourd’hui disparue ; enfin, les statues de Saint-Augustin et de Sainte-Ursule dans les niches ont remplacé celles des Evêques.

L'escalier majestueux de 13 marches qui mène à la façade principale de style baroque, était fort délabré à cause d'écoulements souterrains déviés dans les années 1970. La municipalité a racheté cet édifice et fait procéder à des travaux de soubassement en béton sur micro-pieux. Puis à un ravalement de la façade noircie par la pollution en 2015-2016. Les travaux, dirigés par l'architecte Girard, lui ont rendu son lustre d'antan.

Madame de Sévigné (petite-fille de Sainte Jeanne de Chantal, à l'origine de ce couvent) fit élever ses deux petites filles, Pauline et Marie-Blanche de Grignan dans ce couvent de la Visitation. Elles y sont ensevelies.
EN It is known as the Chapel of the Visitation Chapel of Ursulines or Chapel of St. Catherine of Siena.

This chapel is located in the northern part of the whole monastery built between 1647 and 1652 on the plans of Pierre Pavillon.

The perspective chosen by the architect, at the end of the narrow street Constantin, participates in the spectacular setting of this chapel. Its composition with three registers superimposed stands above a high porch of thirteen steps, reinforcing the vertical momentum and the effect of monumentality. This is a fine example of Baroque style. The facade has undergone modifications: the large medallion sheltering the Virgin, originally contained a bas-relief of the Visitation; the last floor had a large balustrade, now gone; finally, the statues of St. Augustine and St. Ursula in the niches have replaced those of the Bishops.

The majestic 13-step staircase leading to the Baroque-style main facade was very dilapidated due to subterranean flows diverted in the 1970s. The municipality bought this building and had concrete basement work done on a micro -pious. Then a renovation of the facade blackened by pollution in 2015-2016. The work, directed by architect Girard, restored its former glory.

Madame de Sevigne (granddaughter of Saint Jeanne de Chantal, at the origin of this convent) had her two little daughters, Pauline and Marie-Blanche de Grignan, raised in this convent of the Visitation. They are buried there.
