Zwischen 1588 und 1613 wurde die Hämelschenburg als Wasserschloss [Waymark castle: (visit link) ] im Stil der Weserrenaissance erbaut. Zuerst entstand der Nordflügel der als Dreiflügelbau durchgängig geplanten Anlage. Der Mittel- und der Südflügel mitsamt zweier im italienischen Renaissancestil erbauten achteckigen Treppentürme folgten später.

ENGLISH:

Between 1588 and 1613, the Hämelschenburg was built as a moated castle [waymark castle: (visit link) ] in the style of the Weser Renaissance. First, the north wing of the three-aisle construction was built. The middle and south wings, along with two octagonal stair towers built in the Italian Renaissance style, followed later.
