There is a specific "National Engineering Landmark" Plaque from The Institution of Engineers, Australia. As well as a rectangular brass plaque on behalf of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, and, Roads and Traffic Authority NSW, from 2002. That plaque reads:

"Surveyor-General Major Thomas Mitchell identified this line of road and ordered its construction to bypass the steeper descent at Mount York. The road with its massive stone-walled causeway was constructed between 1830 and 1838 by about 300 convicts. Engineering design and supervision were successively under the control of Phillip Elliot, John Lambie and john Nicholson. This significant engineering achievement opened up the western districts of New South Wales and has been the principal route since 1832."

An older, engraved brass plaque from 1982 reads:

"PASS OF VICTORIA
This Plaque was unveiled on the 23rd October, 1982 by
Surveyor-General Jack Darby F.I.S.
To Commemorate the Sesqui-Centenary of the opening of the Pass which was Constructed under the Direction of
Surveyor-General Major T.L. Mitchell
and Opened on the 23rd October, 1832.
Presented by the Institution of Surveyors"
