[FR] Au coeur de Paris, Rue Cité Trévise se dresse au centre de cette petite place une ronde, une fontaine à deux niveaux de type renaissance, sculptée par Francisque-Joseph Duret.
Le groupe féminin sculpté, repose sur un piédestal triangulaire, et est très fortement inspiré des Trois Grâces de Germain Pilon, monument funéraire abritant le cœur du roi de France Henri II, décédé lors d’un tournoi en 1559.
D’inspiration antique comme le voulait l’époque de la Renaissance, il représente les filles de Zeus : Aglaé, la splendeur, Euphrosyne, l’allégresse, et Thalie l’abondance qui symbolisent la fidélité conjugale dans la Rome antique.
Les trois jeunes femmes de la fontaine, placées dos à dos, entre le bassin circulaire et la vasque supérieure, se joignent les mains et semblent esquisser une sorte de ronde dans une attitude tout à fait similaire à la statuaire de Germain Pilon.
La fontaine fonctionne toute l'année sauf en période de gel.
[EN] In the heart of Paris, Rue "Cité Trevise", stands in the center of this small round square, a Renaissance type fountain with two levels, sculpted by Francisque-Joseph Duret.
The carved female group, rests on a triangular pedestal, and is strongly inspired by the Three Graces of Germain Pilon, funerary monument housing the heart of King Henry II of France, who died in a tournament in 1559.
Inspired by antiquity as was the case in the Renaissance period, it represents the daughters of Zeus: Aglae, splendor, Euphrosyne, joy, and Thalie abundance that symbolize marital fidelity in ancient Rome.
The three young women of the fountain, placed back to back, between the circular basin and the upper basin, join hands and seem to sketch a kind of round in an attitude quite similar to the statuary Germain Pilon.
The fountain operates all year except during frost.
