Along with realistic drawings of the reptiles is the following information:
Lace Monitor
Varanus Varius
Native to the Wallarah Peninsula.
The Lace Monitor, which is related to the Goanna, is a very large lizard coloured striped grey/brown. It is distinguished by powerful legs and long sharp claws. It is a very agile climber and seeks refuge in trees when threatened. It feeds on insects, reptiles, small mammals and bird nestlings.
Blue Tongued Lizard
Tiliqua scincoides
Native to the Wallarah Peninsula.
The Blue Tongued Lizard is a large thick lizard characterized by a blue tongue. It has a light grey underside, and striped grey brown back, and feeds on insects and native fruit. Please take care when driving around the community as they are often sunbaking or dawdling across the roads.
[By the logo at the bottom, it has been sponsored by the Stockland Shopping conglomerate.]
Access: I had parked in Two Ponds Lane, as I wanted to find a lakeside trig point. Just make sure you don't park in someone's driveway. At the closest point on the bitumen, you will see the track heading west past some water pumping station.
