The statue bust is about 1.5 to 2 feet tall and a few inches wide. It stands on a concrete pedestal with a plaque, acknowledging who the statue is as well as a quote. The statue seems to be made of bronze.
The quote says, "Democracy and democratic education are founded on faith in men and women, on the belief that they not only can but should discuss the problems of their country, their continent, their world, their work, and the problems of democracy itself".
Taken from Wikipedia, "Paulo Reglus Neves Freire (/'fr??ri/, Portuguese: ['pawlu 'f?ei?i]; September 19, 1921 – May 2, 1997) was a Brazilian educator and philosopher who was a leading advocate of critical pedagogy. He is best known for his influential work, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, considered to be one of the foundational texts of the critical pedagogy movement."
