A 4' high granite monument has the names of 12 women who were murdered in Springfield during the 1990s. At the time the monument was erected each murder was unsolved. The monument is inscribed:

LISA DASILVA - APR. 21, 1991
CORRINE L. LEE - MAY 25, 1992

CELESTINA PEREZ - JUNE 2, 1995
ROBIN ATKINS - OCT. 25, 1997
JOANN C. THOMAS - NOV. 1, 1997
LORETTA DANIELS - FEB. 3, 1998
ROSEMARY DOWNS - FEB. 11, 1998
JOYCE L. DICKERSON - FEB. 19, 1998
TERRI Y. THOMAS - FEB. 16, 1996

Since the monument was erected four of the murders remain unsolved:

Lisa DaSilva
Corrine Lee
Celestina Perez

Six of the women were murdered by serial killer Alfred J. Gaynor who was convicted of killing a total of 9 women.

Myrtle Marrett was murdered by convicted murderer Faustino Diaz.
