The Regional Museum in Chomutov was established in 2003 from the original District Museum. There are 29 museum collections with a total of 221,000 items. The museum presents four permanent exhibitions in the town hall in the Monastery Court and in the church of St. Catherine, the Jiri Popel House, the Observatory Tower and the Center of the Folk Art of the Ore Mountains. In addition, there are various exhibitions and events.
