Sao Bento Station was officially inaugurated in 1916, although it had been operating as such since the end of the 19th century. And it is that at the beginning of the 20th century Portugal was beginning its railway expansion, expanding and modernizing the train routes that connected the main Portuguese cities. The Sao Bento Station responded to this drive to transport and since its inauguration it has become a focus of communications for the country.
