"Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus
Im Jahre 1226 erstmals erwähnt
Die Kirche war ursprünglich eine dreiachsige Basilika mit flacher Holzdecke. Der Turm aus dieser Zeit musste jedoch nach dem Stadtbrand 1710 teilweise erneuert werden.
Auch der alte Chor mit dem unteren Teil des Altares stammt aus der 1. Hälfte des 13. Jhdts. Der barocke Aufbau des Altares stammt aus dem 17. Jhdt. Unter dem Chor befindet sich seit 1602 die Gruft derer von Bassenheim. Ein einmaliges Kleinod bildet das Ende des 15. Jhdts. erbaute gotische Sakramentshäuschen links neben dem Altar. In der ehemaligen Sakristei von 1497 sind bedeutende Kirchenschätze ausgestellt, u.a. die Königsfelder Madonna aus der ersten Hälfte des 13. Jhdts., eine der ältesten ihrer Art im Rheinland.
Im Jahre 1912 wurde im gotischen Stil das neue Hauptschiff angefügt. Bemerkenswert sind auch das Missionskreuz im Hauptschiff neben dem Aufgang zur Empore und der Judokusaltar im Turm - beide aus dem 17. Jhdt. Hinter der Kirche befindet sich der ehemalige Friedhof mit zahlreichen Steinkreuzen aus dem 18. Jhdt.
Im Turmeingang der St. Nikolaus Kirche ist ein Modell des ehemaligen Städtchens um das Jahr 1700 ausgestellt. Königsfeld hatte damals eine Stadtmauer mit zwei Toren, einen Wassergraben, der bei anrückenden Feinden aus nahegelegenen Weihern geflutet werden konnte und eine stattliche Wasserburg. An Burg und Wassergraben erinnern heute noch die Straßennamen "Burgstraße" und "Auf dem Graben". Reste der Stadtmauer können von der Burgstraße aus eingesehen werden, befinden sich aber in Privatbesitz. Aus der Wasserburg wurde eine Schule errichtet."
