Who doesn't love a history mystery?

How did an anchor from the mid 1800s find its way into the Brazos River?

The plaque simply says:

Anchor
From a United States cargo ship
of the 1820-1830 era
found in the Brazos River
in Waller County
1984

Donated by
Edward R. Griffin

In late August 2017 Hurricane Harvey devistated Southeast Texas. As of this posting, December 2017, the Waller County Historical Museum is still closed. In your visit comments, please update if the museum has reopened. Thanks!
