The Wilcox Soldiers' Monument was funded by Colonel Vincent M. Wilcox and honors officers and enlisted men from Madison who served in the the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War. The monument was sculpted by Heinrich Manger and dedicated in July 4, 1896.

A 20' high monument contains a life size bronze statue of a union soldier in full uniform standing with his left foot forward at parade rest. He is wearing a long overcoat and a cape. He is holding a rifle vertically with both hands on the barrel, left over right. A bayonet is suspended from his belt by his left hip. The soldier stands on top of a granite obelisk which is set on a square base.

The front of the obelisk is inscribed ANTIETAM and the squared base contains the dedication:

TO THE MEMORY OF THE SOLDIERS OF MADISON PRESENTED BY VINCENT MEIGS WILCOX NEW YORK CITY Col. 132d Regt. Pa. Vols. Born in Madison October 17, 1828
The east side of the obelisk is inscribed FREDERICKSBURG and the squared base contains the inscription: 1861 - 1865 COL. VINCENT M. WILCOX " CAPT. SAM L FICKE " CHAS. M. WILCOX " SAML F. WILLARD " CHAS F. HAND " WM W. HART " HENRY C. WARNER and 158 others The north side of the obelisk is inscribed CHANCELLORSVILLE and the squared base contains the inscription: 1812 - 1814 LT. BENJ. BRADLEY " TIMOTHY DUDLEY and 32 others The west side of the obelisk is inscribed GETTYSBURG and the squared base contains the inscription: 1775 - 1783 CAPT. TIMOTHY FIELD " DAN'L HAND " JEHIEL MEIGS and 65 others
