In doing a quick online search, it appears the zinc headstone for Mrs. Annie Beard and her infant daughter is a sad story. One cemetery website notes Annie Beard and her husband, J.S., lost an infant daughter in 1876. Then the couple had a son, George, in 1882. Annie died a short time after the birth of their son, which I'm assuming was due to complications from childbirth. George died months later. Annie's husband, Judge John Samuel Beard, was also a miner, grammar school teacher and a butcher. He's interred in Yreka, CA in Evergreen Cemetery.

The front side of the zinc headstone reads:

MRS. ANNIE W.
BEARD,
WIFE OF
J.S. BEARD,
BORN
JUNE 11, 1858,
DIED
MARCH 12, 1882.

The back side of the headstone reads:

GEORGE WEBSTER,
YOUNGEST SON
-OF-
J.S. & ANNIE W.
BEARD,
BORN
FEB. 20, 1882,
DIED
SEPT. 9, 1882.
