The Miamici Valley war memorial was dedicated in 1989 to honor the memory of those from the Kiamichi Valley who gave their lives in the service of the United States. Turn in just before the self-propelled howitzer and pay your respects before venturing onto the Talimena Senic Byway.
The memorial is made of bricks in the shape of an altar, inset into the side of a small hill.
The base of the altar reads as follows:
"Dedicated to these young men from Kiamichi Valley who died defending their country. Like these mountains, they protected us.The price of freedom paid in full.
[individual plaques of service member's names]
Nearby, a pink granite plaque inset into a concrete monument at the front that reads as follows:
"This war memorial was built to honor the memory of those individuals from the Kiamichi Valley who gave their lives in service to their country.
Dedicated on 10 September 1989 by the Kiamichi Valley War Memorial Association
[list of officers]"
