Driving through town on US Hwy 14, one will notice this sign on the south side of the road.
Sponsored by the Nicollet County Bicentennial Committee, this sign gives some chronological dates of events that happened during the building of the town.
The town was platted in 1882 and named for Cortland County, NY.
The population was 611 as of the 2010 census.
