An interpretative sign nearby reads:

Butterfly Bloom
"This impressive butterfly was created by a local artist David A Kopelman, from recycled materials that once littered the reserve. For many years this forgotten area was used for the dumping of cars and rubbish. The area has now been restored and is a conservation reserve for all to enjoy.

"The butterfly freshly out of it's cocoon signals a new beginning for the reserve, home of many endangered plants and animals. The butterfly is sitting on the Sweet Banksia flower that it uses as a food source. You will see this tree and butterflies in the reserve near the foreshore."

From the 'Walking Tracks of Phillip Island Walking Tracks' website: the entrance to the 'Scenic Estate Conservation Reserve' is just off Phillip Island Road - to the north, if coming from the east, just before Surf Beach. There is plenty of gravel parking.

On entering the car park …"The first thing to get the attention of visitors is the sculpture of a butterfly on a sweet bursaria flower. Made from recycled materials, parts of the sculpture move in the wind, acting like a wind vane." Walking Tracks
