The Helblinghaus (English: Helbling House) was first built in the 15th century but evolved greatly with new architectural designs. The Baroque facades and Gothic style of the 15th and 16th century shaped the building, originally townhouses, but the Rococo decorations of bows, window frames, oriels, masks, sculptures and shells, added in the 1700's, helped bring it all together. The Helblinghaus' design helps it to capture light. The Helblinghaus was completed in 1732 by Anton Gigl. The building was named after Sebastian Hölbling (Helbling), who owned the building from 1800 to 1827 and operated a small café there.

The area in which the Helblinghaus is located is well-known for containing a cluster of Baroque façades; however, this is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and memorable.

The sign says: "Helblinghaus, Herzog-Friedrich-Strasse 10 - It is most likely that Anton Gigl from Wessobrunn, a stucco plasterer who moved to Innsbruck around 1723, gave this 15th century Gothic townhouse its exuberant Baroque facade. The name of the house goes back to Sebastian Hölbling who owned it from 1800 to 1827."
