[FR]Le Grand Théâtre de Tours est un bâtiment municipal classé monument historique situé rue de la Scellerie à Tours. Doté d'une salle de spectacle de plus de neuf cent places, il est le siège de l'Opéra de Tours qui dispose d'un chœur permanent et abrite aussi l’Orchestre symphonique région Centre-Val de Loire-Tours. Le Grand Théâtre de Tours est construit sur l'ancienne église des Cordeliers. Dès 1796, cette église est convertie en théâtre de 800 places par un particulier, le citoyen Bûcheron. En 1867, la salle est rachetée par la municipalité qui la fait démolir et remplacer par un nouvel ensemble inspiré de l'Opéra Garnier et conçu par l'architecte Léon Rohard. L'inauguration a lieu le 8 août 1872.
En 1883, un incendie détruit une grande partie de l'édifice (seuls la façade et les quatre murs subsistent). Jean-Marie Hardion, architecte, est choisi pour entreprendre la reconstruction, puis remplacé par Stanislas Loison. La décoration est confiée à Georges Clairin. Ce second et actuel théâtre est finalement inauguré en 1889. Il est inscrit sur la liste des monuments historiques en 1994, puis classé depuis 2000.
D'une capacité de 913 places, le Grand Théâtre de Tours a été dirigé par Jean-Yves Ossonce de 1999 à fin 2015.
Depuis 2016, l’Opéra de Tours et l’Orchestre Symphonique Région Centre-Val de Loire sont placés sous la direction de Benjamin Pionnier.

[EN] The Grand Théâtre de Tours is a listed municipal building located rue de la Scellerie in Tours. With a theater of more than nine hundred seats, it is the headquarters of the Opera de Tours which has a permanent choir and also houses the Symphony Orchestra Center-Val de Loire-Tours region. The Grand Théâtre de Tours is built on the old church of Cordeliers. As early as 1796, this church was converted into a 800-seat theater by an individual, the citizen Bûcheron. In 1867, the hall was bought by the municipality, which was demolished and replaced by a new ensemble inspired by the Opera Garnier and designed by architect Léon Rohard. The inauguration took place on August 8, 1872.
In 1883, a fire destroyed a large part of the building (only the facade and the four walls remain). Jean-Marie Hardion, architect, is chosen to undertake the reconstruction, then replaced by Stanislas Loison. The decoration is entrusted to Georges Clairin.
