This plaque is dedicated to individuals that served as volunteer firemen in this community 1951 through 1988 and to the individuals and businesses of Scott Valley that shared personal talents and money to construct Greenview Fire Hall and aided in securing fire fighting equipment.
Thanks you Scott Valley Grange #386, Fort Jones and Etna Fire Departments, CA Division of Forestry, U.S. Forest Service, and Siskiyou County Boards' of Supervisors for your special assistance 1951-1988.
The first fire truck was housed in a building constructed in 1953 on a donated lot at this site. Later expansion housed two additional trucks. Individual and business donations, proceeds from food sales, dances, card parties, auctions, and deer shoots helped to finance the purchase of the building materials and fire fighting equipment. The service rendered by the department to the residences of the area served could only be accomplished by the ability of men and women working together to accomplish the tasks of public servants to the people that called in time of need.
In 1988 GVFD deeded their property to the Scott Valley Fire Protections District (SVFPD). This present building was constructed by SVFPD to house fire fighting equipment that volunteers continue to use to respond to fire suppression.
