This sign and map is fixed on the railings on the shore of the Firth of Forth at South Queensferry overlooking the famous railway bridge to the east.
It shows your position as part of the Edinburgh Coastal Trail, which is a path that follows the southern shore of the Forth from the city of Edinburgh, six miles to the east.
Apart from the map, the sign also indicates how the town of South Queensferry got its name. Information on the wildlife out on the Forth, particularly wildfowl and seals. The woodland walks on Dalmeny Estate to the east, and the geology of the narrowest point of the Forth, where the sign is situated.
It can be found on the main B924 road that runs through South Queensferry, east of the town centre.
