GH0276 Ponca City - Ponca City, OK - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey benchmark disk is found just southwest of the intersection of E. Grand Ave and SW 6th St. in Ponca City, OK. The bronze disk, which is scratched but still legible, is stamped PONCA CITY 1934 and also states the elevation: 1018.98 feet, which is unusual for a benchmark disk. This corner is also home to a statue of Lewis Haines "Lew" Wentz, a former oil baron who now watches over the disk.
