Müllcontainer nur für Markthändler - Werdohl, NRW, Germany - Unintentionally Funny Signs on Waymarking.com

Another funny sign I found in my childhood home town. It reads "Müllcontainer nur für Markthändler" and stands right next to large garbage bins (containers) on the market place. It translate to "container only for marketers" which of course is meant to restrict access to the garbage cans to people who sell goods on the market opposed to people who buy goods on the market.

I don't know why this is the case at all, maybe it is a tax thing. However usually signs at garbage cans in Germany tell people what to put in there instead of whom is allowed to use them. We are very enthusiastic in seperating different kinds of trash and recycling, so we are very used for a trash container in public to tell us, what to throw in there.

So I am used to read "only for paper", "only for glass" on containers and my mind is trained to understand it as "what goes in there". Three guesses, everyone who is not yet with me, what I thought had to go into those containers. They first question my confused mind asked was "why? Did they do something bad?"

Ah yes and 42 of course!
