In New Shoreham, in a public area by Southeast Lighthouse, is a granite bench that is a memorial dedicated to Catherine Gorayeb, a victim in the 9/11 event.

The site, where the Southeast Lighthouse is located, is along Spring Street, where it changes from east-west to a more northerly direction. There is parking in this area. The monument is visible from the lighthouse, toward a fence.

The monument is a backless bench made of granite. The name and other text are engraved on the sides of the sitting portion of the bench, see below.

According to several sources, Catherine was a marketing Director for Random Walk Computing. She left behind a young daughter.

I couldn't find anything about the memorial, itself or her ties to Block Island.
