Deux tours permettant à l'époque du train à vapeur de remplir d'eau les citernes de la locomotive, le train devait monter jusqu'au col de Lus la Croix Haute, une dénivellée importante demandait une grande quantité d'eau pour les machines.
L'eau était pompée dans la rivière avoisinante avec de grosses pompes qui alimentaient ces tours.
