I was a bit surprised that the airport buildings didn't have steeper roofs, as being above 1,200 metres above sea level, I would have thought they would have every chance of getting quite a blanketing of snow in winter.
Wikipedia reports that this is the Highest airport in Australia, at 1,298 metres, and that it opened in 2000.
There had been a crash here, when a charter plane crashed on approach killing the pilot and two passengers in July 2005 - wintertime (of course) (

You will need to charter own plane to use this airport, but it could easily cost $350 a person from Tooradin Airport (Melbourne) - (

Non-airplane access: Turn off the Great Alpine Road at a corrugated iron sign that clearly announces the nearby airport, and drive down Mount Hotham Airport Road. Plenty of parking available
