While it might sound 'strange', this concrete pedestal trig is on the Snowy Range; but it is on the escarpment of the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, just a little west of Ebor, and is between Armidale and Dorrigo. From the information map (You Are Here) at the turn-off, it states that "Round Mountain is the highest point on the New England tablelands."

There is a dirt road - Round Mountain Road, from Waterfall Way, that goes to Barokee Rest Area, where you will need to leave your vehicle. Camping allowed, and Picnic facilities here.

Walking is permitted along the single-lane bitumen track that winds up around to Round mountain about 1 kilometre ATCF, but almost 2 kms each way.

The trig point has the 'regular' (for NSW) white plastic post, with 'black', semi-circular vanes with perforations. (Well, it they been painted black, but they are now only galvanised covered - with rusty steel bracing between the vanes.) Unable to see if the name plate is intact, as it stands near the Air Navigation Facility and Radar Dome of Air Services Australia.

Be ready with your camera as walk up, as you may likely come across a few grazing kangaroos or wallabies beside the track, and they are quite tame and unconcerned. Terrain - 1.75 (not quite T2, but more exerting than T1.5)
