The cannons of Napoleon Bonaparte's failed French army at Waterloo were melted down to create lamp posts for the bridge in the mid-1800s.
These original bridge lamp posts were part of the London Bridge purchase in 1963 by early 20th century industrialist and entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch.
