There are several static aircraft and spacecraft on display outside of the main exhibit building at the US Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville AL.
The waymarked demo flight cone is located near the Saturn V rocket engine.
Its sign reads as follows:
"LOCKHEED MARTIN 504c
CREW MODULE DEMO FLIGHT CONE
Although never performed, Lockheed Martin prepared for a potential test flight of the 504c Crew Module. The Crew Module Demo Flight Cone, designed to attach directly to the Crew Module, holds two solid propellant MK-72 rockets mounted on opposing brackets on sides of the Demo Flight Cone. In the design plan, the booster motors would remove the capsule from the top of the booster during a test flight. The demo flight cone separates from the crew module and the parachutes ploy, allowing a safe return to earth. This test flight would have provided engineers with data on aerodynamic forces, acceleration (G-forces) and more from onboard sensors and data recorders.
Propulsion: Two MK-72 solid rocket motors
Propellant: HTPB-AP (hydroxyl- terminated polybutadiene-ammonium perchlorate)
Contractors:
Lockheed Martin Corporation (integration and design)
Griffon Aerospace (fabrication)
Aerojet Rocketdyne (MK-72 motors)"
