Das Rathaus von Überlingen wurde im 14., 15. und 16. Jahrhundert errichtet.
1513 entstand der so genannte Pfennigturm, der zur Aufbewahrung des Stadtschatzes diente.
Im Innern des neuen Teils aus dem späten 15. Jahrhundert befindet sich der mit Holz vertäfelte spätgotische Ratssaal. Den Raum schmückt ein umlaufender Figurenfries aus Lindenholz, der in seiner Art einzigartig ist: 41 Holzfiguren zeigen die Stände des Heiligen Römischen Reichs – vom Kaiser und König über die Kurfürsten, Grafen, Herzöge, Ritter, Reichsstädte bis zum Bauern. Darüber hinaus sind die heiligen Nikolaus und Michael als Patrone der Stadt und des Reichs zu sehen.
Die Schnitzereien stammen von dem Ravensburger Bildhauer Jakob Russ (um 1455-um 1525).
Noch heute werden im Ratssaal die Geschicke der Stadt gelenkt. Daher ist der Besuch nur am Mittwoch und Donnerstag um 11:00 Uhr (kostenlos) oder im Rahmen einer Stadtführung möglich.

The town hall of Überlingen was built in the 14th, 15th and 16th century.
In 1513 the so-called Pfennig tower, which was used to store the treasures, was built.
In the interior of the new part of the late 15th century, there is the wood-paneled late-Gothic council chamber. The room is adorned with a round figurine frieze of lime wood, which is unique in its kind: 41 wooden figures depict the estates of the Holy Roman Empire - from the emperor and king to the electors, counts, dukes, knights, imperial cities to the peasant. In addition, Saint Nicholas and Michael can be seen as patrons of the city and of the empire.
The carvings are from the Ravensburg sculptor Jakob Russ (c. 1455-c. 1525).
Even today, in the council chamber, the destinies of the city are directed. Therefore, the visit is only possible on Wednesday and Thursday at 11:00 am (free of charge) or within the framework of a guided tour.
