Trinity Valley Community College mascot is cardinals, one of which can be seen on the lower left. The high school mascot is hornets, one of which is seen on the upper right. Three main highways connect in Athens: US175, TX19 and TX31. The highway markers are there. There is a fiddle because Athens has held an annual "Fiddler's Reunion" for 82 years. Above the fiddle is the county courthouse. There is a square with black eyed peas and the claim that Athens is the "Black Eyed Pea Capitol". The words Howdy, the cowboy boots and hat, the locomotive, the tractor, the windmill, the word y'all, the outline of Texas and the hamburger are pretty much everywhere Texas.
