As described by the USGS in 1954:
"A FOUR LEG STEEL TOWER WITH CIRCULAR STEEL TANK, COVERED WITH ALUMINUM PAINT AND HAVING THE NAME --ROUND ROCK-- PAINTED IN BLACK ON THE TANK IN LARGE LETTERS. TOWER IS ABOUT 135 FT. IN HEIGHT. TANK IS LOCATED NEAR THE CENTER OF ROUND ROCK, 350 FT. NW. OF THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. 81 AND FARM ROAD 620. POINT INTERSECTED--BALL AT APEX OF TANK."
Although its detailed description and height are still correct, its location in reference to the streets being mentioned needs some revision: FM 620 now "ends" right before the mark in question (which is encircled within a new public park), and US 81 is just Mays Street... so a more accurate reference should be "in a public square at the NW corner of Mays and Main Streets".
The NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 30 30 32.33127 W 097 40 46.64698", or "N 30° 30.539 W 97° 40.777") were in line with my observations/calculations while on site.
The station was recovered in good condition.
