The Prosen Water flows from the River South Esk and heads north-westwards into the Grampian Mountains to form Glen Prosen. Two minor roads wind their way up the glen on either side, eventually meeting halfway up after five miles near the only sizeable settlement at Glenprosen Village, the road eventually carries on for another three miles at Glenprosen Lodge where it becomes a private road.
At the point the eastern road reaches its western counterpart, it crosses the Prosen Water by a hump back bridge. Named Spott Bridge after the nearby farm, it is a single segmental arch of rubble with rusticated voussoirs. The date is prominent on the parapet within the roadway. The bridge was B-listed on June 11th 1971.
