There were two oak trees commemorating Shakespeare. Both oaks, although this one is still a sapling.

This sapling oak commemorates Shakespeare's 400 th anniversary of his death.
The small plaque is at the tree and reads
"This oak tree was planted to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and celebrate his connection with Kendal Green.
Planted by the Mayor of Kendal Councillor Chris Hogg and Horticare May 2016"

Visible from the road.

The earlier planting had to be cut down in 2009 due to fungal disease. (visit link)
