As described by the NGS back in 1987:
"ALONG SPRING-CYPRESS ROAD [...], 16.5 M (54.1 FT) NORTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 13.2 M (43.3 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF HUFFMEISTER ROAD, [...], AND 1.1 M (3.6 FT) NORTHEAST OF A FENCE CORNER. NOTE--ACCESS TO DATUM POINT IS HAD THROUGH A 5-INCH LOGO CAP. THE MARK IS 0.3 METERS SE FROM A WITNESS POST AND FENCE THE MARK IS ABOVE LEVEL WITH THE ROADS"
This NGS description is still pretty accurate, and so are the distance estimates from the 2 intersecting roads.
However, the NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 29 59 05.73 W 095 39 26.04", or "N 29° 59.096'N 95° 39.434") are off (at least at the time of this waymark's posting): the NGS coordinates were 33 feet WNW of my calculated observations, as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages. Furthermore, the NGS coordinates bring the station ~25 feet NorthWEST of the fence corner, not 3.6ft NorthEAST of it.
FYI: you will probably have to dig and remove about 5-6" of dirt (since the station is now 6" below the ground), but once most of the dirt is removed you will be able to get to the cap/cover, open it, and recover the actual metal rod.
