As briefly described by the NGS back in 1978:

"LOCATED AT THE SOUTHWEST END OF THE SAN LUIS PASS BRIDGE, 15 FT. SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 5 FT. NORTH OF A SAN LUIS PASS VACEK PLAQUE WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE BRIDGE HANDRAIL, SET IN THE SOUTHEAST CURB OF THE BRIDGE."

The NGS brief description is still quite accurate and should definitely assist future seekers in finding this benchmark -- alternatively, one can use the gallery images for any future attempt at actual recovery. To be honest, it would be truly hard to miss this one once on site... :)

The station was recovered in good condition. Likewise, the NGS' currently posted coordinates were perfectly in line with my observations, as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages. (FYI: the coordinates on www.geocaching.com are off, but that's irrelevant at this point since the NGS database has accurate readings by now).
