I first became aware of this building while surfing the web looking for interesting places to see (and before waymarking existed).
According to several sources, including www.oldohioschools.com this is Vinton Township School (also known as Wilton School), built in 1933.
On a recent visit, I happened to meet a man who attended school here. He referred to it as "Wilton North Elementary", which hosted Kindergarten through 8th grade. He wasnt sure when, but thinks it closed in the mid 1950's.
Today the building remains little more than a shell, much of the roof has fallen in, and wood stairs are rotting out.
The hoops are still present on the backboards in the gymnasium / auditorium. Some playground equipment remains in the yard. I could *almost* still hear the children playing at recess.
I've heard stories that is school is supposedly haunted. I've found no proof of any hauntings, or news stories to verify. It is a somewhat spooky (and quiet) place.
