Langston is one of ten all-black towns established after the Civil War, still in existence today. It is the home of Langston University.

Langston School stands at the intersection of Hale St. and Martin Luther King. It was originally built in two sections. According to the Logan County Historical Society website, the center section which was a two room brick building with a gabled roof, was built first at a cost of $10,800.
Flanking this center section, two taller stone additions were constructed at a cost of $8661. The roof collapsed on the center section, and this area was demolished. The rock walls of the two wings are still standing. However, the roofs and interior details are no longer in existence. These additions housed a stage, dressing room, utility facilities and sanitation.
