Two blue US Government battle tablets at Craven's House explains the contributions of Ireland's Brigade to the larger battle of Lookout Mountain, outside of Chattanooga TN.

This tablet is located near the NY 12th Corps Monument, and reads as follows:

"No. 7
IRELAND’S BRIGADE
Geary’s Division – Slocum’s Corps
Col. David Oreland
November 24, 1863

60th New York - Col. Abel Goddard
78th New York – Lieut. Col. Herbert Von Hammerstein
102nd New York - Col. James C. Lane
137th New York – Capt. Milo B. Eldredge
149th New York – Col. Henry A. Barnum, Lieut. Col. Charles B. Randall

Four regiments of the brigade took part in the attack upon Lookout, the 78th New York having been left as picket and camp guard. It crossed Lookout Creek with Geary’s division about 8 a.m. at Light’s Mill near Wauhatchie, and formed the center of his line in the advance towards the north point of the mountain. Cobham’s two regiments were on its right, Candy’s brigade on its left and Whitaker’s brigade of Cruft’s division formed the second line.

No. 7 continued
The 102nd New York acted as skirmishers. After advancing about a mile and a quarter, the division became engaged. The brigade advanced with it under sharp fire and around the northern slope, fighting its way to appoint some two hundred yards beyond the Cravens house, which line it held until relieved at 3 p.m. by troops of Candy’s brigade commanded by Col. Creighton, 7th Ohio. At Cravens the brigade passed over to abandoned guns of Howell’s (GA) battery,Lieut. R. T. Gibson, which had not been in action. These were the only Confederate guns on the northern slope of the mountain. Strength in action, 47 officers, 728 men."
