Charlie Farnsley was the mayor of Louisville from 1948 to 1953. Born in Louisville, Farnsley very actively sought to improve the culture of the city. He was a patron of the Art, promoting the Orchestra and the Fund for the Arts, and the Free Public Library. Farnsley is buried in Cave Hill Cemetery.
