This bronze bust of Tennessee native and Confederate Army Lieutenant General A. P. Stewart stands in front of the Hamilton Co. Courthouse in downtown Chattanooga. The bust is affixed to a base of Tennessee grey granite.

The statue depicts General Stewart from the waist up. He wears his Confederate Army General officer's uniform with a couple of unbuttoned buttons at his throat. Over his uniform he wars an open heavy topcoat and heavy canvas gloves. His left hand is at his wait fingering the pommel of his saber which is attached to his uniform by a belt. His right hand rests on his hip with his elbow cocked. General Stewart looks to his left, as if assessing the battlefield.

On the granite base, the following words are carved in bas-relief:

"A. P. STEWART
LT. GENERAL
1861-1865"
